Just recently on A Current Affair, there was a story about a carpet conman who has been ripping off pensioners. A Current Affair came by to interview our Director, Clare Collins as an expert in the field. Clare is also the Victorian President of the Specialised Cleaning and Restoration Industry Association (SCRIA).

Drugs have been a hot topic this week, so let’s keep in step. Here at Perco Cleaning and Restoration, we also clean up meth labs. Meth labs are extremely dangerous, not just the chemicals alone, but how the meth is made is also very dangerous. See how the meth has corroded this ceiling fan? This is caused by the corrosive atmosphere that cooking meth leaves behind. For every pound of the drug produced, there are 5-6 pounds of toxic waste left over. You should never enter a meth lab, only trained professionals with the correct PPE should, as you can imagine what the corrosive atmosphere immediately begins to do to uncovered bodies.

Floods

Recent stormy weather caused a surge in the number of flood restoration jobs that we were called out to do. It is very important to mitigate flood damage, with mould being a particularly severe hazard. Mould requires moisture for growth – and floods are the perfect initiator. When mould grows, it can cause allergic reactions and, even worse, can cause diseases in those subjected to it. This is why it is important to deal with floods (even minor ones!) immediately – to mitigate and eliminate all hazards as quickly as possible. Any type of flooding, again even minor floods, should be cleaned and restored by professionals, as water has a tendency to go into every nook and cause problems. From your carpet to your underlay, from your plaster board to the chipboard on your furniture – water will go, and mould will grow.

Puppy Piddle

Puppy Piddle

A customer had a problem with some “puppy piddle” on her rug. She had called in a carpet cleaner to clean her rug, hoping this would remove the urine and stop the puppy from going back to the rug. The carpet cleaner knew a surface clean to the rug would not solve the problem and suggested she call a professional rug cleaning company that had an in house rug cleaning plant. Cleaning a rug in an in-house rug cleaning plant is the only way to successfully remove the urine from a rug. The lady called us and now has a nice clean rug.
